Sub Release Thin Client use with Items can't preview files

I have installed the subscription release 1 new thin client.  We are using items to control files.  As such, we have our settings the same way we had them with the original web client, only show released items and only show released files.  In the web client, we can go to an item, view the attached files, and then open the attached file for viewing / printing.  In the new thin client, we can only see the thumbnail of the attached files and can't open them unless we uncheck the 'show only released files'.  Then we we can open them, but we also get all files available in all states.  We would like to see the same functionality as the original web client.
