Project Template syncing to local workspace

This relates to AutoCAD/Inventor/Electrical/Plant/Revit templates that are Project specific

Typically Templates are managed on a Network Share.

Ideally in a multisite environment they would be managed in Vault.

However the current process requires the Vault User to manually update their local workspace which the Design tool templates are mapped to.

Solution is to automatically update the existing active project local workspace folders with the Project templates or catalogs or spec sheets (Plant) on every login without adding too much wait time or performance issues

There may be 100s of active projects that the user is not working on, which doesn’t require syncing, so checking the local workspace for active project folders is key for performance.

It assumes that the user has downloaded the Project Templates when joining the Project and has not deleted the local Project Folders

You could utilize the 'workspace sync' to update templates.

My customer has 50 users and 2 million files in Vault. A typical Vault user has 40K files in their local workspace.

The scenario is that 2 template files have changed and need to be pushed to all Vault users

The workflow and process time to enforce a mandatory update for only 2 templates to 50 Vault users using Workspace Sync is not a work around that my customer will implement.

This functionality is exactly what is contained with "Vault Mirror Plus" (free for Vault Pro 2016); https://www.solidcad.ca/vault-toolkit/vaultmirrorplus/

In my opinion this is a JDI project for Vault.  I believe task scheduler could do what we want and then we push Task Scheduler to every PC and let it automatically do a get 1 time per day.  From what I've found is that Task Scheduler will only get "CAD Files" as in IPT, IAM, IPN, IDW.  It can not grab any other file types.  I just need the ability to get any file type from Vault via Task Scheduler.  If that could be opened up I think I could do a get on 1 folder and everyone would have the latest and greatest customization with much more confidence then relying on the users and I really don't want to run around to 50+ PC every time I tweak something.  Then I still have to make sure I didn't make a human mistake by skipping someone or getting side tracked and not finish one.  This comment to the idea's out there.

We really need this and there are many conversations on this dating back to 2007 or earlier like this one:

This could help nearly every user of Vault/Inventor.  In my opinion this is the only way to manage Customization files @ templates.

What does that mean? Was it implemented or possibly backlogged? Or maybe incorporated into another solution?

Sorry, but there is a history of our Ideas in the wrong status. So I am fixing this one.

We do want to address this request but it is not currently planned.
