Multi-select lists for properties

Multi-select lists for properties

Going through an implementation of vault, the lack of the option for a multi-list as a property type is very limiting when it comes to integration.

This may be a limitation that stems from matching the capability of the authoring tools, but those could stand to be updated as well.  Alternatively, there could be a translation that would take a comma separated list in a property or attribute into a multi-list property.

Hi,

Is there an e.t.a. or solution for this functionality? We would like to have a solution for this as well in our Vault implementation. I guess this would be an easy-to-fix feature?

Best regards,

cvdcage,

I don't know how easy of a solution it would be. MS-SQL doesn't have a data type for a multi-list. It would have to be a custom data storage scheme in the database, not that it hasn't been done before.

This would be most ideal to get incorporated into Vault.

The ability to utilize a single multi-value list tied to a singular property name is severely limiting. A user should be able to tie individual multi-value lists to each Category the Property is tied to. We have hundreds of thousands of parts within Vault, and while enforcing consistency is incredibly desirable to most, you cannot feasibly do this as a multi-value list with all the Properties for every Category we have would be so long, it would be burdensome to scroll through, and could allow users to categorize things incorrectly.

If this cannot be done, one should at least be allowed to have duplicate Property Names as long as they are not tied to the same Category.

Hi

Any news on implementing this idea?

It was accepted a few years back.

Thanks

Still relevant as a feature, would be very useful.
