Ignore simulation results during Copy Design

When running a Copy Design on a file (say an assembly), if one of its dependants (even if not copied) was used for simulation, the simulation result's files are copied to the temp during the Copy Design.

It sometimes results in an error stating "The specified path, file name, or both are too long", and the Copy Design cannot be done.

Could the simulation files be ignored during Copy Design?

In the Copy Design dialog you can change the settings not to include the attachments.

In the attached picture you can see my settings AND what's displayed in the Copy Design preview.

The part will not be copied because the function tries and makes a copy of ALL files in the temp, and it ends up with a path too long........

The simulation results are preventing other functions (like dwf publishing with Jobserver) too. There really should be some way to exclude them from a lot of things in Vault...

We run into this same issue attempting a Copy Design on an assembly with simulation files.  The ability to exclude those files would be very helpful due to the 'file path too long' errors.

Currently, when right-clicking the simulation files, there is no "Exclude" option.

Also, the suggestion "In the Copy Design dialog you can change the settings not to include the attachments" didn't seem to affect the outcome.

I also wish there was better file naming/copying/linking management for 3rd party and FEA files.  We need a better method to know which simulation study is linked to which simulation results files, that way we can delete links (shouldn't even have to do this) or at least rename/move.

I have also noticed that even if there are links, and the files are checked in, a Report.rtf file will magically disappear from the Vault browser tree.

Moreover, in the Manage Links window (Document Links and Embeddings), please add multi-select (Ctrl & Shift).

Copy Design has changed since this post. This should no longer be an issue.
