Enforce Property write on Lifecycle Transition

Enforce Property write on Lifecycle Transition

Allow an administrator to define a UDP that is updated on lifecycle transition.

When a document moves from

WIP to In Review write the username to a UDP e.g.  Drafted by

In Review to Released write the username to a UDP e.g.  Approved by

Currently it is manual effort to update the UDP prior to state change.

This is an Out of the Box feature with Solidworks Enterprise PDM and requested by users moving from this system to Vault

It would be good if this applied to any UDP whether the UDP releated to Files, Items or Change Orders.  I currently have change order UDPs to support external reporting (e.g. ECOs to send to customers) that would be useful to update as the change order status changes.  We currently have to fill these properties in before the change order gets approved.  I would like them filled in during approval.

Adding the drawing checker's details on the drawing is common througout indusry.

This feature has been available on other PDM systems for years.

I would like to be able to add the following to a UPD of my chosing as a lifecycle transition action:

1. The username of the user who has changed state.

2. The first name and last name concatenated of the user who has changed state, to avoid the domain info being printed.

3. The date which the state was changed.

4. To clear a UDP on state change, a refresh when moving from released to WIP.

I understand that this can be done using the lifecycle event editor, however if you can't program, this is next to useless.
