error: IIS is not running as the default web server

I am trying to install the latest vault hotfix "Error Getting Relative Resource Path during checkin of Inventor files" since I am having the described problem. I followed the instructions for installing, but got the following error during installation "IIS is not running as the default web server." Then the next dialog box reads, “A problem prevented the hotfix from being installed. Contact your system administrator. Error Code 1603.” Any ideas?

Thanks,
Daniel

Server OS = Win 2000 SP4
Vault 4 SP2
Vault Server SP2

Is IIS installed on your machine or are you using AutodeskWebService?
Please post the log files created by the installer in your temp directory

Daniel,

Make sure you stop the web service before installing the hotfix (just double
checking in case you didn't do that).

Thanks,
Bob

I believe we are running AutodeskWebService. I am posting contents of what is hopefully the correct log file. I have also included a screen shot of installed programs.

Thanks,
Daniel

Using the Autodesk Web Service (AWS) means you would not be connecting to
the Vault server from any clients machines - only the server itself. Is that
the case? If so, just stop the Autodesk Web Service before installing the
hotfix. You can start Vault Manager, stop the web service, exit (not
restarting it), then apply the hotfix.

Let's see if that does the trick.

Thanks,
Bob

Bob, I did as you suggested and stopped the web service and exited without re-starting, then re-tried the install. Still having the same error.

Thanks

Sorry, we must be running IIS because we do connect from several client machines.

Please run the Diagnostic tool and post the output file.

Here's the log.

Hi Ajay,

Just wondering if the diagnostic output helped give any clues as to what might be happening. Does it look like a serious problem?

Thanks,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

The diagnostic tools output looks fine. It shows that you have IIS 5.0
running and responding to requests.
I do not know much about the hot fix you are trying to install. So I waited
for someone else to pitch in.

Please contact the Autodesk Customer Support.
