What with different software versions

In our company, we are thinking about installing Vault.

We are making drawings for other company's and work with different software versions of inventor.

My question is, if I create a file in Inventor 2010 and check it in to vault 2011. Can i still open the file with 2010 or will vault 2011 migrate the file to 2011?

The file format, including version format, of any file checked into Autodesk Vault will remain in the format that is was when checked in.  Vault does not change files.  Only the design applicaiton (AutoCAD, Inventor, C3D, Solidworks....) can change the format of the file.
