ne one of my clients, when he tries to rename a file, he gets this error.

I was able to rename the file from a different client. I did a repair install on this client and problem still persists.

These are Inventor files.  Have not tried any Acad files., but after more investigation I figured out that it will rename Inventor 2011 files just fine.  It will rename Inventor 2013 files if I do not check the "Update Part Number" box.  If the box is checked, that is when I get the error.

Hi Kirk,

Please try tthe following:

  • Update File reference before running Rename on that machine.
  • Clear C:\temp on that machine.
  • Create a new 2013 Vault type IPJ, set as default in Vault and active in inventor and test.

What are the results?

Ron,

Came across this issue on the same machine again today. Today we were trying to rename a .iam.  Here is what I tried to resolve the issue

Cleaned out the %temp% folder.  Rebooted and tried again. Still persists.

UFR on the just the .iam file. Still persists

UFR on the entire folder that contains the .iam. Still persists.

Created a new vault .ipj. Checked it into vault.  Made it the current vault default ipj and also set it active in Inventor. Still persists.

Logged into vault using a different username.  Still persists.

Did a repair install on the Vault 2013 Basic client.  Still persists.

Before I loaded Vault Basic 2013 on this machine, the user could rename in Vault 2012.  Now he can't rename in either Vault 2012 or Vault Basic 2013.

The only way that I found that they can rename and NOT get the error is if the "Update Part Number" box is left unchecked. Also, like I mentioned before, once the iam is renamed from a different client, then this usere can rename again on this machine.

Kirk
