Vault 5 exception error

Just upgraded out install to Inventor 11 and Vault 5.

When you try and turn the Content Indexing Service to On, we get an error message "Exception from HRESULT: 0x80041820" from the Vault and this service stays disabled.

The Vault is running on Windows 2000 Server SP4 on a Dell Poweredge 2650, Xeon 3.2GHz CPU, 2GB RAM 146GB SCSI disks and SQL 2000 SP3a.

I assume you are trying to start the full content serach through vault
manager.

The exception says that windows CI service can not be started. Can you try
starting it using the Computer Management console.
CI_E_NOT_RUNNING
0x80041820 Service is not running.

Then again try to enable the full content serach through vault manager.

Many thanks for the reply.

I'm assuming that you mean the Indexing Service in Windows Services ?? If it is this, then this service is set to automatic and is running. Tried restarting this service but it still did not work.

You can start/stop the indexing service using the Windows "Services" also
but you can not see the catalogs under it.

Thats why its better to use the the computer management. (Attached is an
image of it).

Now regardin your problem - the error message says that the CI service is
not started but you have verified it is.

That may means the Vault Manager can't see the service. Please check the
event log and see if there is any error related to Indexing Service (also
known as Content Indexing or CI).

Also check the vault manager log file.

Just checked the Event Log and there are no errors for the Indexing Service.

In Computer Manager>Indexing Service we have System, Web and 6 other services that strart with ADSK and have a load of number and letters after them (see attachment).

I assume these are the Autodesk Vault services.

I am getting the same problem. Not quite sure how to fix it. I do not see any errors except for the information in the original thread of this in the log.

Has anyone found a solution to this yet?

Eric
