Upgrading Vault 2011 to 2012

We are currently running Vault 2011 and I want to get Vault 2012 up and running.  From previous upgrades, I have just uninstalled the ADMS and then installed the new ADMS.  The new ADMS would recognize the existing database and it would migrate it when it is first started up.

In the past, we would have a printed quick start guide that explained all this.  Since we dont have the printed stuff in V2012, is there someplace that I can find some information.  I would feel better about this if I could read something rather than jumping in blindly.

I have downloaded the Vault Server 2012 and put those files on the server.  Looked through the folders there.  I did find a 2011 Implementaion Guide, but no 2012 Implementation guide.

Hi I have just gone through the same procedure myself. Couple of pointers:

  • Remember to do a full backup first
  • You don’t need to uninstall ADMS 2011 first
  • Remember Vault does NOT support Windows 7 SP1 or Server 2008 R2 SP1 yet
  • Remember to disable AV before installing Vault 2012
  • Remember to upgrade your SQL to SQL 2008 SP2 or 2008 R2
  • Remember to load the Vault server Multi Hotfix - ts17313115 as per included procedure
  • Remember to load the Vault Client Hotfixes - ts17204191 and ts17309387

So, Vault 2011 supported Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (which is my current config) and Vault 2012 will not.  Just great.

I was told that SP1 of either Windows 7 or Server 2008 is “officially”
supported but that no one has reported any issues with it yet. I suppose
Autodesk would just want to make sure and do proper testing before they commit
and say it’s supported.
