SQL Express 4GB Limit reached

I would like request for an advice regarding autodesk inventor. We are currently using autodesk inventor 2011 with SQL 2008 for our vault database, recently our SQL database had reached 4gb limit and was adviced to buy a new installer SQL2008 version. however, when we located on of the resellers in Malaysia, we were told that SQL 2008 installer has obsoleted. So was wondering if we can buy SQL 2012 and downgrade it to suit for our vault 2012?

Hello Clarence,
you can see the system requirements for Vault 2012 here:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=18374213&linkID=9261340
You need to ask Microsoft about downgrading SQL Server license, but normally I guess this is not a problem.
SQL 2012 is not supported with Vault 2012.

Uprade to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition.  It won't cost you anything (free download from MS) and will increase the DB limit to 10GB.

This is compatible with system requirements for Vault 2012; http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=18374213&linkID=9261340
