Release Inventor .dwg but not dependents

We have many Inventor drawings with base views linked to a large project assembly.  We would like to “Release” these drawings, but Vault gives a restriction message regarding the .iam file from which the base views are linked:

Revision A of .iam is not released.

We haven’t found it necessary to “Release” .iam & .ipt files – we only release the .dwgs.  Previously we have been exporting the Inventor .dwg to ACAD .dwg in order to release them.  How can we release an Inventor .dwg without having to release dependent .iam & .ipt files?  Is this a mapping property that needs can be modified?

Thanks!

It sounds like the lifecycle settings are set to require children to be released.

Check the transition to released on the lifecycle the dwg file is assigned and see if it is set to require children to be released as well.

Thanks Scott!  That did it.
