Inventor.exe drops TCP to Vault Server <2min inactivity

We are having a problem with "Inventor.exe" and the Vault client process "Connectivity.VaultCollaboration.exe" on the local workstations dropping their TCP connection to our Vault Server after only about 100 seconds of inactivity. When the user once again performs an operation that requires interaction with the Vault it takes about 20 or 30 seconds for the TCP connection to reconnect. I have checked with our IT department and they have confirmed that it is not settings on their end and they say it must be setting on either the Vault Server or the Vault Client causing this connection to time-out. I have monitored this behavior over an extended period of time using the Windows resource monitor and it happens exactly the same, every time, after about 100 seconds of Vault inactivity in either Inventor or the Vault client. We are still using Vault Collaboration 2012 at this time due to some scheduling issues with our international sites but we should be performing our first upgrade within the next month to 2014. Any help would be very much appreciated.
