Drawing file numbering sheme

Hi Sirs,

Does the automatic file naming run for drawings????? It seems like NO.

Vault WorkGroup 2011.

Is there any parameter somewhere to make this run?????

Regards

In the Vaul Options in the Inventor Vault Tab, make sure that the "Generate file numbers for drawing and presentation files" option is selected.

As a side issue, is it possible to define file numbering schemes, then turn off their use in the CAD applications. We want to use the naming schemes to rename the files in vault when we have finished the design, so being asked all the while to choose naming schemes when saving for the first time is a bit of a pain.

Thanks
Greg

If you aren't logged into the Vault add-in it won't ask you to use the numbering scheme. This may work for some people but not others, some of my guys only log into the add-in when they need to so they don't get hassled by the add-in during normal design.

But by the looks of it you can't be logged into the add-in with a numbering scheme set in the Vault Client but turn off the numbering option in the Vault Add-in.

However, you can create a numbering scheme called 'Null' and have only 1 field that is Free Text and set the max char limit to 128 (the max you can have). Then set it as the default scheme. When the dialogue pops up you can use whatever filename you like, or select another numbering scheme. The only downside is you can't select a previous file and modify the filename. So potentially you have more typing to do, but I would likely just keep the common text I use for the filenames on my clipboard then just paste and modify.

What you reckon?
