Download ipt and dwg from webclient

Hello

We have recently upgraded to Vault 2014 pro from basic, because we were told that it was possible to download ipt and dwg files from the webclient. Our CAM-people will use this to get the files they want for their programming.

But, the only thing that happens when we click the file in the webclient is that the dwf is shown in the viewer. It seems to work for files that of some reason doesn’t have a dwf-file attached, like files copied in Vault explorer but never opened in Inventor.

Is there a way to fix this behaviour? Do we need Vault Office for this?

HI Rigge,

This is as designed, the webclient is intended to be a read only tool for searching viewing and printing etc - the download file is a fall back for missing dwf files so the user can use a native viewer, unfortaunately we cannot modify that behavior.

Likewise the office webclient is really only designed for single office documents and requires access to WIP docs, so this may be a security issue for your shop floor users.

What people will typically do in this situation is make allowance for 1 extra license which someone on the shop floor can access to see ONLY released documentation, download files (Create ECO's etc).  This license should not be fully utilised and its just a matter of procedure to get the guys to log out of this when they don't need actual files.

Hope this helps.
