Copy Design and name in iam browser

I do a copy design on an assembly and copy the parts in it also. When I open the new assembly in Inventor, the names that are shown in the browser are all from the originals. If I look at the iProperties of the parts, the filename has been changed, but the part number is still like the original part.

I have to right click on each part in the assembly, click properties and chose the occurance tab. The value shown in the name field is for the correct part, but the name in the browser does not match. I have to change what is in the name field to get the browser name to update. Then I have to change to the project tab and change the part number also.

How do I get the name in the browser to default to the filename of the copied part?

There has got to be an easier way.

Thanks

AFAIK, at this point you can't.

The problem is that when doing a rename in Vault, the file name is changed BUT the Part Number iProperty does not inherit the filename (the way it will during a save copy as)

This has been on the wishlist for a while.

In Productstream 4.5 there is an "Update Part Number" checkbox in the Rename
wizard. I'm sure this one is fixed in the next release, but I'll have to
verify to confirm.

Thanks,
Bob
