Controlling the Automatic Creation of DWF from AutoCAD

I do not want to create dwf files that contain all sheets in my AutoCAD files. I need to be able to control what sheets are published, ie exlcude model space. I can set up the publish process within AutoCAD and it works fine. When I check in the file to Vault, the settings are ignored and a dwf file containing all sheets is created.

Does anyone know how to correct this?

Essentially you need to set all the plot settings for the DWG exactly as
you want it to plot. For example remove any sheets or model space you
don't want, set the plot settings for each layout correctly, etc... Just
make sure these parameters are saved in the DWG.

I'm not very handy with the settings myself, but I've seen it work many
times with properly formatted DWGs and you get very, very nice DWFs out
of them...

Someone else might be able to share more on this - but it is all about
getting those plot settings correct.

One more note - you don't control this via adding or removing sheets via
the publish dialog since these settings aren't stored with the file.
you need to configure each sheet to have the proper plot settings.

e.g. to not plot the model space make sure it is in an unitialized state.

Can someone please elaborate the steps necessary to do this? I have tried everything I can think of, but I still get a blank page as the first page of every DWF created from a DWG with only Layout entities.

Attached is a copy of the plot.log produced when I check in to the Vault as you can see three pages are being published. The next post shows a snapshot of my Page Setup Manager for Model Space.

Thanks,

Tony

UPDATE

I just installed the latest DWF Writer (v3) thinking that might have been the problem, or that it would yield a solution, but it still behaves the same way.

Thanks,

It turns out that Mechanical Desktop does not act this way. I.e. if there is nothing in Model Space (or maybe even if there is) it ignores it and just autopublishes the Layout page(s).

I have also heard that DWF Composer might be smart enough to publish only pages that have something on them.

Thanks,

Tony

Tony,

Have you tried modifying the DWF Publish options in MDT or AutoCAD?

File >> Publish .... and then under "Include when adding sheets"... uncheck
Model tab or Layout tabs to meet your needs.

Maybe that will do the trick for you.

Thanks,
Bob

Tried it. No effect. I also tried changing the plot settings for Model and Layout spaces.
