Check in dialog box no longer appears

I have a couple of questions. Our company started using the vault last week so we are still trying to work out several bugs. Recently some of our machines have stopped brining up the dialog box for the version comment when we try to check in new and revised drawings. Each of the machines that has been affected worked just fine two days ago. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Also, I have everyone's vault check in options set to delete working copy upon check-in but they are not being deleted. How can I fix this.

Cheers,
Nathan

There is a set of options for each application that controls this -
typically this is found under "File > Vault > Options"

here you can change prompts and control the way dialogs appear.

The options in AutoCAD does not have a selection for delete working copy or a method to turn the check-in dialog box on or off.

In Vault, the options were already set to delete working copy. It just is not deleting the working copies. Also in Vault there is no selection for turning the check-in dialog box on or off.

After each system was set up, no changes were made to any of the options and some machines just started to not bring up the check-in dialog box. After the check-in button on the tool bar is clicked it says it must save the file. I click ok and (this is were the dialog usually comes up) it vaults the file and does not let me enter any comments.

Nathan

Hi Nathan,

The option (see picture attached) to delete working copies is only available
in AutoCAD 2008 and Vault/PS 2008. I believe the Vault options is the option
set at Vault Explorer and it is for Check In via Vault Explorer only.

From AutoCAD menu File -> Vault -> Options and check whether the Dialog
Suppression for Check In dialog is not turned on.

Hi Nathan,

I will log the issue on no setting to turn on/off the option 'Close files
and delete working copies' at the AutoCAD Vault options for the Check In
Dialog Suppression.

Thanks for the feedback.

Try this if you are still having this problem.

try to find the file Preferences.xml (path for Inventor 2011 as below) and open it using notepad.

  • For Windows XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Autodesk\Autodesk Inventor 2011\Objects\Preferences.xml

  • For Vista/Win7:

C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Inventor 2011\Objects\Preferences.xml

Then you should be able to find the content as below, and make sure the value of property “Suppressed” is “False”.

  <Category>

    <Property Value="True" />

    <Property Name="Suppressed" Value="False" />

    <Property Name="CreateDWFAttachmentApplyToAllFiles" Value="True" />

    <Property Name="DeleteWorkingCopy" Value="False" />

    <Property Name="IncludeParents" Value="False" />

    <Property Name="KeepFilesCheckedOut" Value="False" />

    <Property Name="CreateDWFAttachment" Value="False" />

    <Property Name="DirectParentsOnly" Value="False" />

    <Property Name="SendToJobServer" Value="False" />

  </Category>

If you can’t find the content in the file, you could try to delete the file and restart Inventor. It should be re-generated automatically.
