Challenge to programmers - rename files from file store script

Vault crashed on us yesterday. Unfortunately when it was initially set up, the file store and SQL database were backed up separately so that we cannot restore our vault. We do have a backup from a month ago that was done through the vault console. What we do have is the file store intact. The problem with that is that the files are stored as numbered files rather than their proper name. The other problem is that all versions are present. We are looking at over 250,000 files. The good thing is that the iproperties part number field contains the proper file name

I am not a programmer but it seems that someone could write a script that would do two things....

1). Delete all but the most recent version of each file

2). Rename each file by pulling the part number from the iproperties data

Has anyone seen or written a script that can do this?

Thanks,

Chris

If you have the SQL databases and the filestores (even though they were backed up seperately), copy them back into the original locations on the server and use the "Attach" command in ADMS Console (first you will attach the KnowledgeVault and then if necessary attach your actual vault).

Thanks Ryan,

We tried this with mixed results.  All the files show up in Vault explorer, but many of them cannot be retrieved.  It gives  a message that says "The file is either missing from the file store or failing validation"  I believe that the problem is with files that were checked out when the backup was made.  The SQL database can't reconcile where those files are in the filestore.

Look in the log files on the server (C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\VaultServer\FileStore) and find an entry for a file that could not be retrieved. Is the file in the location indicated? Does the location in the log file match with the location of the filestore when you click on the vault in ADMS Console?

The log file shows that it is looking in the correct file store location and that the file exists.   See copy/paste from error log.  This is only one file of several thousand that shows the same error.
