When the vault takes an backup, the dir name is Vault_2005_11_07_11_02_32_.
Can I change it to an fix name without date ?

I don't think this is possible. Why is it that you want to do that?

Once backup completes you can rename that directory to whatever you want.
However there is no way to set the default name.

I want to synchro the backup with an site on FTP server.
So I have an copy on an other place.
I do it automatic in the night after the backup.
To realize this, I must know the Dir name, If I have an fix name can I work with *.bat file.

I basically had the same issue but what i was looking to do was only
save two backups at a time - therefore I needed to know the directory
name to remove it...

I got a script from a customer and super-vault-user who solved this in a
creative way. Check out the backup section at the end of this and
notice now "wrapper" directories are created.

this allowed me to know it was in an "A" or "B" folder (you can call it
whatever you want. A great solution to this question!

I use this scipt for the backup, it's works fine. After the backup, I take an copy of the backup to an FTP server on the net. The backup is 35 Gb and that takes to much time for an copy. For that reason I synchronize the backup to the FTP.That takes about 1 hour. The first time put I manual the copy on the ftp. For the synchronization must I know the name of the dir, because it's runs automatic.

I don't find an solution in the script for changing the dir name.
Maybe other idea's ?

Hello Bolle,
in an earlier post Doug mentioned that once the backup is done, you can rename
the backup directory created by the Vault.
So the question is: how do you know which directory to rename, right?
A couple possible solutions:
1. you can use a script (WSH, perl, etc) to figure out the name of the new
directory
2. you can make sure that the new directory is the one and only directory
that can be renamed (or synched to FTP).
let me give you an example of #2:
- lets say your backups go into c:\backup
- make sure this directory is empty (no files/subdirectories)
- run Vault backup - it creates a new directory c:\backup\Vault XYZ
- now you can syncronize the C:\backup directory to your FTP site (if you
are keeping multiple backups on the site)
- or you can rename the Vault* directories (there is only one) to your fixed
name, and then synchronize it to the FTP site
- after synchronization is done, you need to clean out the c:\backup directory
- delete the backup or move it somewhere else
