I have repeatedly attempted to install Autodesk Vault Basic 2013 (Server), but the installation fails.
Since I'm trying to upgrade from 2012, when I begin the installation, I choose "Yes" to migrate the existing database. The ADMS System Check then runs & everything passes. Then almost immediately I get the following message:
FAILED: Autodesk Vault Basic 2013 (Server) An error occurred while installing this product. For more information view the installation log file.

Are you going from a Vault 2012 or one of the "pay-for" 2012 products? The 1603 is an error that could be many things and I would like to try and narrow it down if it is possible.

I'm going from standard Vault 2012. I think that the failure might simply be that 2012 will not uninstall. I'll try to post once I find out more...
Ok... Since you have a backup, I would think that would be the best approach. We can at least help you with the uninstall if there are issues 🙂

I know - how crazy is this???
Here's the error:
I just tried to manually uninstall ADMS 2012, &, first, a window pops up that says, “Autodesk Vault 2012 (Server) Failed to get allied products.” After clicking OK it says “This product failed to uninstall”
I am going to have to email that to the install team. I have never come across that error in my testing.

Just thought I'd post a follow-up in case it helps someone else:
The ADMS 2013 (Vault 2013 Basic Server) installation continously failed with the vague 1603 error. As it turns out, the entire problem was caused by a failure in the unintstallation of ADMS 2012. When the ADMS 2013 couldn't uninstall ADMS 2012, the installation simply failed with no clear indication why. 3 days wasted all because a program wouldn't uninstall. Grrrrrrrr...
With help from an Autodesk employee, ADMS 2012 was uninstalled manually by deleting registry keys. After the uninstallation, a few tweaks, & a few more failed installation attempts, ADMS 2013 is finally up & running.
