I am learning all about AutoCad Vault 2012. I need to perform some administration duties like giving myself a log in 'user name' and a 'password'. But first, I have to find out how to become the vault administrator. Mine is a single computer, single user system that will ultimately transmit and receive documents from local offices. Also any information about "server" and "database" would be helpful. It is still a bit blurry for me at this point.

Hey!
Is the Console installed on your system, or on a seperate server? If your own system, you can use "localhost" as the server name. Typically, I believe "Vault" is the default vault name.
As for admin user access, the default Admin user should be able to be used to create another admin user of your choosing. When creating a user, select the "Administrator" option when setting up roles and you will have complete admin control on your vault. I'm sure there's a document regarding this, I'll see if I can dig something up.

There are some good articles and whatnot on Autodesk's Wikihelp: http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/enu
And here's the link for Vault: http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Vault/enu/2012
I haven't looked around the Vault one in particular, but the one that jumped out at me right away was this: http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Vault/enu/2012/Help/02._Working_with_Vault/02._Vault_Server/1001BasicAd...
I hope that helps, feel free to ask away though!
