Resctrict file check out

Hi all,

Got a fairly simple question. Hoping for a simple solution :-).

I have a group of users who have full access to files(check in, check out, change state,...the works). I have another set of users who I don't want to have any access to change files other than to change the file state to release.

Is the a particular authorization that I can choose from the user roles? Seems like no matter what configuration i choose, the user seems restricted unless I give the engineer the same access as the designer.

Thanks for the help!

Jeremy

HI Jeremy,

This cannot be achieved by roles - you need a minimum level of access to change state which gives you access to modify files.

You can however configure this with lifecycle schemes - simply make a group with read only access to files in WIP and Released etc but full transition rights to change the file state.

Hope this helps.

I had not noticed the security tab on the transistion states.

THanks Allan!
