Problems with Vault? -Check your antivirus

Just had a case where ownership would not transfer automatically in a Vault Collaboration replication setup. We suspected SQL timeouts due to long distances/high latency, and spent a lot of time tuning sql agent settings and adding cumulative updates for SQL.

As it turned out, Trend Micro Officescan was the product causing all the problems! I did suspect that Officescan could cause problems, but it took time to convince the customer that we should try uninstalling their beloved antivirus on the servers.

The problem is that Trend Officescan has a proxy-module, which filters all network traffic. This obviously has negative impact on the communication between the replicating vault servers.

Another product with the same problems is Panda Antivirus. Avoid both products like the plague with Vault, the latter also causing problems between the vault server and the vault clients!

ESET Antivirus causes similar problems. It caused me a lot of problems when it was first installed. There's another discussion thread about it. after excluding all Autodesk products everthing works correctly.
