i know with the Plant 3d 2013 extension 1 vault workgroup and higher was required
i will have to check to see if autodesk got rid of that in 2014

Depending on what version you are talking about (2013 or 2014), with 2014 basic is not supported.

It has to be workgroup or professional, because the colaboration version is not longer available in 2014.
I would talk to your VAR to see if workgroup will work for you or if you need to bump up to Pro.
