Main Menu Disappeared?

We have had a user who has had her main menu (accross the top) disappear. We can't find a way to get it back. Any ideas?

Hi,

Please try the following and let me know if that works.

1. Close Productstream 2008 Application
2. Browse to %appdata%\Autodesk\
3. Rename "Productstream 2008" to "OLD_Productstream 2008"
4. Launch Products 2008 Application

HTH,

Madhan

If you are talking about the main grid area...sometimes the bar that splits
the Uses,Where Used, View section from the main pane gets moved all the way
to the top. If you move your mouse just below were the toolbars end you will
see your mouse change over to show you can select and you can then grab the
bar and move it back down. After you do that and close PS should remember
the location the next time its opened. If this doesn't help you can also try
what Madhan suggested.

I'm having the same issue as djohnson1976 reported back in 2007, my main menu bar has gone missing.  I am however using Vault Pro 2012.

I can add all the commands back into a custom toolbar, however, this is an undesirable workaround compared to the standard main menu toolbar.

I'm not sure how it happened.

I'm thinking of uninstalling Vault Client, and doing a reinstall, however I don't want to have to do that.

Help?

Can you post an image of what you are seeing?

Without seeing a screen shot, you can most likely reset it by doing a right click on the menu, and select Customize.

Then select the menu in question and click "reset"

Thanks for the reply, here's what I'm looking at. Notice how the main menu tool bar isn't there (the one with file, edit, view, go, tools, actions, help).  When I do as you say, and reset the main menu, nothing happens... the main menu bar doesn't reappear.

Try this:

  1. Exit the Vault client.
  2. Go to C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Vault Professional 2012\Objects
  3. Delete Menus.xml
  4. Restart the Vault client.

toolrite,

The same fix may apply for MDT, though I am not sure as I am not familiar with the product.

Try this:

  1. Exit MDT.
  2. Go to C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\%MDT 2007%\
  3. Copy the contents to a new location as a backup.
  4. Delete the contents of C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\%MDT 2007%\
  5. Restart MDT.

I hope that helps, if not, check the MDT forums here:

Unfortunately I'm having the same issue with the main menu, however I cannot find the following folder:

C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk Vault Professional 2012\Objects

Kirk,

That will be the folder structure of either Windows Vista or 7 - please note that the folder AppData is hidden, so either you will need to have hidden folders exposed or manually type in the folder name under you User's profile.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for the solution.  Any idea what causes this to happen?

Hi AllisonH - unfortunatly I am unaware of any single cause.  My thoughts are that the files are possible manipulated outside of the product (maybe an AV scan?) causing the corruption - but no real facts to support it.
