Copy a Vault in ADMS? Create a new seperate vault identical to an existing?

Hi Guys,

We have an idea and some reasoning here to create a special project and "Vault" to manage our own internal library of re-useable designs. We would like to have a select few "admins" manage this library with its own Vault. When we start a new major project (ours can go on for 12+ months) we would then take a "COPY" of this Vault and it would form the basis of the new project to be started from scratch.

What I am looking to do is find a "workflow" which will allow me to copy the master vault as it is in ADMS at the start of the peoject. Currently I dont see a point and click option to "copy" a vault to a new additional one?

Can I back it up and safely restore it with a new name, effectivley creating a "new" Vault without affecting the master one?

Any other method to acheive this?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Brian

Sorry but there is no way to copy one Vault to another.

I think in 2012 there is a new feature called "Vault Data Transfer Utility"....if memory serves me correctly, this may help you combine vaults.

Maybe Irvin knows more or can clarify?

Sorry but that utility was not developed for this purpose.

Hi Irvin,

If we had the Library as a folder within the project, would that utility allow us to copy that folder out to another (blank or new) Vault?

If so that would prob work for us.
