New Custom Object for File

Hello Guys,

I need to store extra data along with file properties.

Ex:

For inventor File i have something called as CutomProperties where i can store new/custom data which save along with file.

Can i have custom data stored along with file properties in vault?

Thank You

You can have custom properties on files, folders, items & change orders.

You can have file attachments on files, items and change orders.

If you have a custom iProperty in an Inventor file, you should be able to map it to a custom property in Vault.  See the "Property Mapping" page in the Vault help.

Thank You for your reply

Redmond : I just gave an example of iProperties but will not be using iproperties.

Dave Mink:

I need to store extra data like a "hyperlink" to the file properties. Not only this some more data with the file.

Is there any sample ?

I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to use a property for something like a hyperlink to data in another system. For a file attachment, both the file being attached and the entity is being attached to must reside in the vault.
