Slack span

How might a slack span be shown as an arc in the plan view?  Or is there a different way to show a slack span is not a regular span?

There are a couple different approaches that could be used to display slack spans differently.

1. Schematic/Manual

The only way to display the line as a true arc would be to first use the AUDEXPAND command (or other schematic commands for inserting features) to create a schematic line for the slack line. A schematic line can be edited with no impact to the underlying model and so can then be edited to create an arc. However, the editing required must be done manually and may require a few explicit steps. The following are ways to create a schematic line or convert a previously created line to a schematic one:

  • AUDEXPAND - select a previously drawn conductor and it will be expanded and converted to schematic
  • AUDFEATURE/QUICKINFO - select the conductor in the information tool tree, then move/modify the line (this may be the simplest workflow, after selecting the conductor you can just hover the middle grip and choose the 'Convert to arc' option from the popup menu)
  • AUDSCHEMATICTOSEGMENT - draw a new schematic conductor, adding it to a prior created segment

NOTE: to convert lines back to be non-schematic, use the AUDCOLLAPSE command.

2. Style/Automatic

If an arc is not strictly required, then a different linetype or other means could be used to display the slack differently. Depending on how you have configured conductors for slack (either separate conductor models, or using the Slack Tension attribute) a corresponding Style rule can be used to automatically select a slack display style for the line.
