SCE user group

SCE in california has a few hundred new users of AUD and I'm wondering where I can get info on a User Group that is in So Cal that has info and training of Autocad Utility Design. Specifically AUD, and not just basic autocad training, which would be beneficial I admit.

If anyone has any tips, FAQ's and training videos or materials, I'd really like to get information on how I can aquire these.

Even simple things, like changing the arrow size, what scale settings affect the model and paper space, how to get the pole modeler to work and uploading the designs.

We have had some basic training, but I was hoping to use this forum for the questions that some of our peers might have had answered already , so that I can train myself offline.

Thanks for the help!

I cannot help other than to tell you that I have asked the same question for over a year now and have gotten no responses. Apparently there is no training available and to make matters worse there seems to be no thrid party documentation available either.

The only training I have been able to find is the AUD_Getting_Started.pdf that came with the disk and it is inadequate for someone trying to do a full scale transition into AUD.

If you do find any help please let me know!

Thanks

I also currently work with Edison TDBU. Can anyone please forward ANY tips, FAQ's and training videos or materials that you receive?
Even basic would be helpful.

Thanks

the best place to find GDT training for AUD is thru the SCE Portal site.
The web based training is there and you can download the whole skill book tutorial, pdf's of examples and even web-ex seminars that cover all the topics they have covered.

There are weekly WebEx seminars to get help, and they will be going to 8 hours a day starting next week.

Thanks for the info.

What is so frustrating is that we have been forced to use Auto-Cad when we happen to have deadlines to meet.
The training provided was quick and non-productive. Super users that were trained to train us, have no knowledge on how to use
Auto Cad.

It would have been great if the company would have given us some basic training with Auto cad.

The training manual for AUD is mixed with basic and advanced criteria. No starting point.

Would like to learn Auto Cad. Many other industries use Auto Cad. Again, our customers are real and deadlines have to be met. Not being able to meet those deadlines because of AUD adds stress to us and is not needed.

I'm wondering if there's a practical demand for some sort of training classes.  I would think that Autodesk would be interested in putting something together (and they have the resources) for their users like you.

If there's still a void, I'm wondering if that's something I should put together for folks.  I'm an AUD specialist / developer in San Diego, CA and have serviced a lot of utilities over the years.  I go way back with the product when I worked for Autodesk and back to the Gentry Systems days when it was UDS.  Now I'm just a small third party developer specializing in utilities who use AUD and/or AutoCAD Map.

Anyway, Autodesk would still be the first people to ask to create a training class.  If there's a demand for it & it could be profitable, I would imagine they'd be up for it.  If not, let me know if you have ideas for what you'd like in a training class - maybe it's something I could help get started.
