Steam rising?

Has anyone tried or know if its possible to model steam rising from a surface of water that is subjected to a very hot gas temp? And if so, is it then possible to model a scenario where a steel container is partially filled with water; water is then subjected to a very hot gas at the surface such that it creates steam; and then measure the temperature of the inner steel wall at the steam/water interface to know what difference in wall temperature is as a function of steam?

I've seen other posts that I believe state that simulation cfd does not simulate phase change, so would this case problem then not be solvable with Autodesk Simulation CFD?

Thanks!

Hi Paul,

I do not think we could do this, no.

The type of phase change we can model is when we have a constant flow passing through a sealed unit with a phase change part way.

Sorry that we cannot help in this instance.

Thanks,

Jon
