Technical Art
Technical Art as a discipline has grown from the crafting of simple scripts in Max or Maya to the creation of full art processing pipelines. Now technical artists are expected to create data translators, procedural art generation tools, code shaders, and maintain data archives, among other things. This forum is a place where technical artists can meet to discuss any and all issues, ideas, or insights they might have so that others can help and learn from them.

COMMUNICATION RIGGERS/ANIMATORS

Hi everybody! I'm Stefania, a student at the Glasgow School of Art working on her master's project.
I'm researching on the relationship rigger/animator and I'd like to know your opinions.

Here are questions:

Is communication between riggers and animators difficult?

Do you think is good for a rigger to have experience in animation? And for animators to know rigging to some extent? Why?

Are there differences in big and small studios in the way riggers and animators communicate?

In small studios often one person works both as a rigger and animator. Do you think this is more or less beneficial than having one person for each role?

Thanks!
