Shrinkage analysis and dimension comparison

Dear all,

Is it possible to perform shrinkage analysis and dimension comparison for a plastic component ?

Our aim is to verify to use same injection mould with PA66 GF 50 & PA66 GF30. We want to see that whether changes will be inside the tolerances or not .

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that is what Warpage Moldflow analysis is for.

Do two analyses using two different materials and compare the predicted shrinkage dimensions

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Also i observed Cool+Fill+Pack+Shrink module. When we have to perform this module? Any body using this module?

To find the shrinkage and (critical) dimension comparision, we have to perform either shrink or warpage analysis?

Thanks.

Yes, you can use Shrink instead of warp.

If you have an access to both, then it is probably better to use Warp as it is more powerful and more accurate.

Hi,

Usually the CAD model which we take for moldflow simulation should be with shrink factor or with out shrink factor?

since there are critical dimensions to be compared, i am having this doubt.

Hi,

we use part CAD model scaled with shrink factor, it correspond with mold cavity.

In our experiences should be Cool analysis also computed. Without cooling part wapage is different then by using

mold cooling. But it may depend of part type and material. Also processing conditions should be set by production parameters.

We compare exported warped stl mesh from Moldflow with 3D scan of real part. More accurate was mesh computed with cooling.

But we have now only one this compare, it should be compared more parts to say final word.
