I've been told that Moldflow will do pure compression molding, in addition to the injection-compression and straight injection molding. If it does have the capability to work with this, then it would be a serious argument for my company to buy a copy of the program. I know about the Scandium technology preview, but I've been told that for 2014 the capability was native. If it's just a technology preview that could expire at some point, we'd be far less interested.
We work with a lot of injection molded plastics, but we also have a large division that does compression molding of SMC-type thermosets, and we're going into a revision cycle on those now, so it would be really nifty to have simulation on the new products we're designing there ...
Any inputs?
