Autodesk SImulation Moldflow 2014 is available right now!

Dear Moldflow users,

I'm happy to let you know that Autodesk Simulation Moldflow 2014 products are available for download from subscription center right now! All customers with active subscription on their Moldflow products should have the 2014 products added by now. When the 2014 product is added, the contract manager will receive an email with instructions, a product key and a serial number.

  • New product orders processed as of 3/28 will get the 2014 release.
  • Users that have active subscription on their Autodesk Simulation Moldflow product can go to subscription center, and log in, then click  'get my upgrade', then look for your Autodesk Simulation Moldflow 2014 product.
  • Users that get their product delivered per DVD will need to wait a few extra days for the DVD to be delivered to them.
  • The release is currently available in English and Japanese. Customers that have their language in Subscription set to any other language than English or Japanese, will have to switch the language to either English or Japanese on the download page (see below) in order to see the product!

                    1

  • Additional documentation, validation documents and Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Structural Alliance 2014 for Abaqus and ANSYS will become available onsubscription center shortly.
  • This years’ release does no longer contain Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Design Link as a product. The CAD translators are now included within Synergy, Adviser and CAD doctor,  and are no longer available for sale or for subscription renewal.
  • You will have several ways to download and install your product: Download Now, Browser Download and Install now.

    2

The Install Now and Download Now option ONLY contain the Moldflow components and is a smaller download. For Synergy and Adviser, the Browser Download option is bigger and ALSO contains the Inventor Fusion and Vault Client download. The frist step in the installation process of the moldfow product is an extraction of the installation content in a folder in C:\Autodesk. In this folder you will find the Inventor Fusion and Vault Client installer.

As with previous releases, once you receive your product serial numbers please contact our Registration and Activation group to get your new licenses generated. This can be done online (Register), per phone (800-551-1490), or per email (authcodes@autodesk.com).

After you have your new product licenses, you can complete your product installation as well as configuration of your license service and begin using the Autodesk Simulation Moldflow 2014 products.

Best regards,

The Moldflow development team.

Dear Hanno,

Just installed ASMI 2014, and see a CFD license is required for 3D Channels to work in Cool(FEM). I didn't need separate CFD license for Scandium, so this is a nasty surprise 😞 Of course as Partner, I'll get the NFR CFD easily - but please enlighten me which is the minimum CFD version/price for our ASMI 2014 customers?

I still have "CFD TP 2014" folder as a left-over from Scandium; which version is this?

Thanks,

Piotr

hallo Hanno,

in 2014 Moldflow why do we need to buy extra CFD license? as a part of injection molding process simulation the CFD analysis for cooling channel  has to be included in Moldflow itself.

I also have the same question if we must buy it what is the min cost? Smiley Indifferent

Thanks

Sadashiv

Hi Sasashiv,

CFD is a very different branche of simulation from the Moldflow product, with very different challenges. With the availability of a commercial CFD product with many years of field commercial usage, using the CFD product was the obvious choice.

This is an advanced cooling solution. There were a few ways we could have made this work; a relatively staight forward way ould have been use the full Autodesk Simulation CFD and have the user run the conformal cooling flow within CFD, and then bring the results across to moldflow through an interface. However we decided to connect the products closer and drive the conformal cooling meshing and solve from within the Moldflow product. This makes conformal cooling much easier to learn and run.
Another piece to this is that the conformal analysis can be combined with rapid heating and cooling, so the implementation is pretty complete at this point.

In terms of which licenses would be required; you need a 'CFD design study environment' (the user interface) and lowest level solver license would be sufficient. The CFD product installs next to the Moldflow product on the machine where you submit the mesh and solve to. For the cost of a license, please contact the your sales representative or reseller.
Alternatively, the Sim 360 Moldlfow product also contains CFD and Mechanical at an attractive price point. This cloud product is not yet available everywhere though.

Hello Hanno,

Is there a way to get the classic user interface instead of the ribbon user interface in 2014.  There was the option in 2012 to select either.  If not, will this be coming or is it the ribbon user interface from now on?

Thanks,

Cody

Hi Cody,

This release we had to drop the 'classic' GUI and had to focus our efforts on the ribbon style interface. With some fo the new capabilties coming in, it was not feasible to retain (and maintain) the classic user interface. Also addoption of the classic user is substantial at this stage, and most people have made the transition quite quickly.

We are still making some more improvements to the user productivity with the ribbont style GUI.

It was very good news that, conformal cooling is available in moldflow, same as competitor software like moldex.

It shoud be additional capability without additional cost, may be some extra cost in solver.

Such things, will limit the usability of such options of moldflow and moldflow should provide this without additional cost & add value to AMC & moldflow software itself.

Same way, it should be for CAD doctor/ Design link, without additional cost will add value to moldflow software.
