Combining 3D Part elements with Midplane Part Surface elements

I would like to be able to combine 3D part elements with Midplane Part Surface elements.

(Think of film gates or living hinges, where the midplane elements are handy when you want to change the wall thickness quickly AND where you do not want to end up with very flat 3D tetras.)

(Note that combination of Dual Domain and Midplane is already possible!)

I udnerstand the idea, and Moldflow development went in this direction about 10 years ago. It became apparent that this would not provide results reliably and we abandoned the idea. Instead we focussed our efforts on speeding up the 3D analysis and the calculation time penalty is currently much lower.

At a high level this sounds like a good idea, but this very unlikely something we would embark on in the near future.

Alternatively, you should create some wizard to quickly add cold sprues (and runner & gates) on 3D Mesh AFTER part mesh creation, keeping on different layers the cold sprue elements from the Part elements, in order to clearly understand and show PART results (warpage - shrinkage - Temperatures and so on)
