Cycle time and Mold Open

Upon reviewing the results of a simulations; I realize my project will have some hyrdaulics cores pulls so the mold open time would need to be adjusted.  I adjusted it and reviewed the results again.  I am shocked to see that the pack and cool time had changed.  I thought these were two distinct phases of the cycle.    Why is Moldflow linking them and where is the explanation for this in the help.

What am i missing.

Hi Kelson2,

i dont know if im undestanding your question but indeed the packing and cooling phases are different but we have to consider when the cavity fills the packing phase begin and in the same way the plastic part start to freeze even during the packing phase the software must analyze how the part is cooling. You can interpret that the cooling phase begin when the gate is 100% frozen.

I dont know what you mean about the pack and cool time had changed, you mean they increase or decrease?

Hope this helps, if not just ignore me 🙂

Regards

This is going back some time; so my memory is foggy.

What I noticed was that when I changed the mold open and close time after
the simulation had ran the cooling and pack time changed in the summary.

This did not make sense to me. Mold open and close should be independent
from the cooling and pack times.
