Importing Inventor 2014 Material Library Into Simulation Mechanical

Is there a way to import the material library of Inventor 2014 into Simulation to select from?

Hi CPEProjE,

I do not know of an automatic way to transfer the material properties. But a custom material in Sim Mechanical can be saved to a user's library. So there is probably some method to do something like this:

  1. create an assembly in Inventor where each part uses a material you want to transfer. The model is not important; make the parts simple and not contacting each other.
  2. send the Inventor model to Sim Mechanical
  3. edit the material for each part. (You may need to mesh the model first.) I do not know how it will appear in the browser, but somehow you want to get it to be a custom material so that when you right-click on the material, you have the option to save it.
