Hi
I would like to determine the torsional stiffness or a non-circular, constant cross-section part. I am trying to optimize the composition/cross section of a simple airfoil and need to examine the impact of changes to the cross section on the torsional stiffness. How can one determine torsional rigidity/stiffness?
Thanks,
Shannon

Could you apply a torque to twist it, and then measure or calculate the angle of twist?
On a similar note, when applying this method to irregularly shaped torsion members, is there a simple means of precisely determining the neutral axis?

Do you have a recomended means of applying pure torsion?
At the moment I have applied a torque to a selected surface, however It appears that this may be applying a torque to eash individual node and I am not certain that the part is experienceing pure torsion.
