ALIBRE Software

I used to build 3D FEA models using ALIBRE software then export them to ALGOR for analyses. Can I still do that with Autodesk Mechanical Simulation 2013? What is the preferred CAD file type for export into Autodesk Mechanical?

Hi Maher,

I don't know what is the native CAD format for Alibre but I can tell you that Autodesk Simulation Mechanical/Multiphysics 2013 can directly import STEP, IGES, SAT, STL, DWG, DXF and other formats from popular 3D CAD softaware such as Solidworks, Pro/E, Inventor and CATIA. I myself would prefer to use Inventor to build my FEA model because I can place work points (the software will place nodes at these points for meshing) and the fact that both these software use the same Autodesk Shape Manager as their geometry kernel.

Regards

Ilyas
