How does one get an Inventor sketch into Trial CFD Simulation? I have tried each origin plane. I have tried a simple rectangle and a simple rectangle with a circle inside. I keep getting an error message. I am assuming 2D sketches are used for 2D simulations. Is that assumption incorrect? Is there something in the help files about 2D CFD? This has been a show stopper for a week.

Why would you need to get a 2D sketch in SimCFD? Do you mean 2D mesh?
1) Just finish the sketch (say circle, square etc.)
2) "Patch" the required sections to create the surface. You can select the patch command under Model tab
3) Launch it to SimCFD

As Omkar mentioned for 2D models to come in to SimCFD they must be planar surfaces (on the XY plane).
Once you're done with the sketch you can do a Boundary Patch or fill it as you see fit.
A sketch alone is not sufficient to go in to Simulation CFD and setup a model.
