Pressure loss

Hello everybody,

 

I work on a process where air flows. I estimate the pressure loss in my system. But, in order to check my results, I try two different calculs with two different boundary conditions.

 

The first with weight flow and température of my fluid

The second with volumic flow and temperature of my fluid

The conversion weight/volumic is made thank to the density, so it's very simple.

 

To calculate the pressure loss, i use a summary plan that i put on the inlet surface. The results are very differents 3800Pa in the first case and 10000Pa in the second. Why? wich of these two results is the best?

And to eliminate some possible errors, i assigned an egal and constant density for the two cases.

What is the gas you're running? And at what temperature?

 

If you're taking our standard Air material (@19.86ºC) and assign a volume flow rate of X

Then convert that volume flow rate to a Mass Flow rate using the appropriate density (1.2047kg/m3)

You should get similar results through the domain.

 

Assuming you're not including buoyancy (flow only) you could even convert the Volume Flowrate to a Velocity and see comparable results.
