Installation Crashes Computer

I'm running Windows 8.1 and attempting to install Simulation CFD. Whenever I attempt to install after I enter my single user license key, the computer freezes up (usually) except for my mouse, audio loops, and I am forced to restart.

On restart, I find that the installer has written 0s through ProductInformation.pit grouped in 4s with spaces delimiting and a new line after 8 groups for 2458 lines. line 2458 ends only with "0000 00"

ProductInformation.pit excerpt:

0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000

I did back up ProductInformation.pit after my second attempt. I have tried running the installer in compatibility mode with no luck. The two installer logs from my most recent attempt have been attached. The problem is consistantly repeatable and there are no error events in windows event viewer.

Windows 8.1 is not supported. We do support up to 8.0 with CFD 2014.

I hope that the Simulation CFD team is busy supporting 8.1 since downgrading is not an option

Thanks for letting us know. Simulation CFD 2014 was released with support for Win 8 which was the most current Win OS at the time. Simulation CFD 2014 was not designed to run on Win 8.1 because it did not exist until later.

Often times a new Windows version isn't too disruptive. Unfortunately Win 8.1 turned out to be different enough from Win 8 that it is causing these issues. However, it is part of the plan for the next version and is being tested now.
