CFD 360 crashes during meshing

Hi -

I'm trying to run a simulation that includes a finely-finned heat sink, so the estimated elements with automeshing are over 1,100,000. All is fine until I start the solver, then it crashes with:

Mesher process started...

Loading model...

Loading mesh sizes and constraints...

Surface meshing... generating surface mesh

1103-100

Can anyone tell me what this error code means, and possibly how to avoid it?

Thanks!

Hi Olev.. Could be a few things. One thing to do as a sanity check is apply a course mesh and ensure you aren't running out of memory. The 360 memory capabilities are quite high, so just trying to rule this out.

Appears to be failing on the surface mesh, which could indicate the model has either complex surfaces or complex blends between surfaces.

Either way, probably would be more efficient to log a case to have one of the members of the team take a closer look

Hi Derek -

It crashes pretty quickly without using much memory, so I guess we can rule
that out.

I agree that this should be logged - it actually was a few days before, but
I hadn't heard back yet and needed to move forward somehow.

Thanks!
Olev
