Usefullness of Shape Extraction

This "Shape Extraction" is VERY BASIC, recogniing just some simple shapes like sphere, cylinder, cone, plane.

There is no "Surface recognition" like NURBS Surface, MESH surface, happily available in ACAD.

Or something like this: http://www.deskeng.com/articles/aaayex.htm

Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Jure

Thank you for your feedback.

The current 'Shape Extraction' is the preliminary work we have done for point cloud processing.

More features are in progress. Hopefully they could be available in later release. (Don't know when.)

For the current version, you can use section to generate BSPLINEs and then use revolve or loft modeling tools to generate freeform surface.

Rapid Form XOR is a great tool, if you have $19,000 to spend.

I can't wait until the day that all my point cloud software needs are handled by one software package.  I'm currently using 3 different software packages and I'm considering the purchase of rapidform XOR as my fourth.
