What does it mean by this paragraph?
"The Shape Extraction for AutoCAD technology preview is licensed for a limited term and for a particular territory as referenced in the End User License Agreement. The technology preview will operate untilFebruary 1, 2011."
Does this mean that the program ceases to function, or that we will no longer be able to download/install the add-on, by this date?

Though Ihave responded to Greg individually, let me add some clarifying facts for teh forum members.
We are on the verge of unveiling a new technology preview that is specific to civil shapes for AutoCAD Civil 3D. We are also considering extending the Shape Extraction for AutoCAD technology preview so we can get feedback from both of these previews at the same time. This seems fairly likely, and would happen before February 1, but no promises.
I have downloaded the newest install, but its asking me to remove the old one, even though I did. Any ideas on this? Do i need to go through the files manually and delete the files?
Do you know if the PCcrop command will be added to the core of autocad? Adding a pointcloud in autocad without the SE is great, but not being able to crop it is a pain. And if the intent of SE is to be testing only, that tool should be part of autocads core PC commands.
Also, there was a time Scott, where you had emailed some people about talking to lidar news, but your email address was not attached properly for a reply.
Ok after a few more tries, i figured out what to do.
Originally when the program expired, i uninstalled it. Downloaded the new one, and tried to reinstall. Would get an error telling me that SE was already installed, do you want to remove. I would say yes, even though it was removed. Then the installed would say something like "not installed".
So, you need to 1. Leave the older version installed, and try to run the new install, then let the new install remove the old. Then it will install the new version.
if you have already removed the old version, you need to reinstall it. then run the new one.
1. Thanks for the tip. I will write a blog article for tomorrow about the uninstall/install suggestion.
2. Gene Roe wanted the information about Lidar. I processed the email as coming from him, so all you had to do was reply.
We use google apps for our email. I think gmail knew that it was a reply to address differnt from the sender. It wouldnt allow us to see or even reply to the email...FYI.
Thanks for the tip on gmail. That was a one-time thing. I am not in the habit of sending emails on another's behalf.
hey i just downloaded the new installer for shape extractor, but I'm an Inventor series user. The installer kicks me out because it doesn't see Autocad 2011 anywhere. Previously it would extract everything into a director and I manually loaded it per Scott Shepards blog atricle. Without it extracting I'm kinda stuck. Any ideas?
