Same Error and Problem as explained before.

User Aaron Maller and I have a theory: The technology preview does not work with installations of Revit that were done via deployments (instead of standalone) or as part of a suite. The result of how Revit was installed has an effect on the content of the user's Revit.ini file. The theory is that the Point Cloud Feature Extraction technology preview is not finding something it is expecting in the ini file. The team is investigating the issue.

I completely removed Feature Extraction, did a bunch of .net updates, download the zip file again, right clicked the zip file and unblocked it, reinstalled feature extraction and it works!

What web updates did you do.  I have tried reinstalling after unblocking the .zip file and am still getting the same error.

if you got this error, please try install vs2010 Redistributable p[ackage

I can confirm that this has solved the problem, at least here.

1.Unblock at zip

2. The mentioned vs2010 redistr.

Sicne the error message is .NET related, the Visual Studio run-time environment update may be the key! Nice work pointing that out.

The team has provided me with a new installer that fixes the .NET problems users are having. It is available for download:

You should uninstall the old and install this new build.
