Which tutorials would you recommend me for creating textures for Maya?

Photoshop would be your best choice  and easy to find tutorials.

Digital Tutors has great tutorials and the Gnomon Workshop, they cover everything including UV mapping.

Give it a try.

i found that i already downloaded tuts for maya which photoshop tutorial was included (the one with the airplane introduction to maya i think it was the name). I found one with raptor dino as first lesson also thanks for the info.
