All of a sudden, I find myself unable to load images into Maya 2013 in MAC OS.
Image files are visible in the file requester window, and selectable, but once I hit "open", all listed files become ghosted grey and nothing happens. Cancelling the file requester window is the only option then.
I can't say the true scope of the problem, but I wanted to see if anyone has experienced the symptom itself.
The solution turned out to be filesystem related. Many of my image files had square brackets as well as parentheses in them. Apparently, Maya is not tolerant to those, even though the ever-loving MAC OS doesn't mind them at all.
Changing the filenames to only alpha-numeric characters allowed me to open them for use as image planes.
Sorry for the vagueness, the problem was hard to describe since selecting a file and clicking "open" are things that you just take for granted.
