Area light wattage or lumen equivalent?

Hi All.

How could i implement a realistic light wattage or lumen setup with an area light in maya.

Value is only Intensity. How would you measure the realworld intensity of that light?

Using real world units, What would Intensity 1 be equal to in maya.

Thanks in advance

To use real accurated Area  lights in Maya you might need to look into IES files, they are provided by companies that make bulbs and these files give the right light information  and luminance pattern that can  then be plugged into an Area light.

These files are free and you can find some tutorials on the net....here's one.....

Just remember your scene must be in real world scale and linear workflow for the light to have the proper fall off/ decay rate and behave as the real thing.

Thank you so much for that. I have used a few ies lights files before, but more for the uplight effect than anything else. I will certainly give this a go. Kind Regards
